Tony Award winner Adriane Lenox, Sarah Paulson and Dominic Chianese are among the cast members set for MCC’s production of Alexander Dinelaris’ Still Life. The new play, which opens MCC’s 2009-2010 season, begins performances at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on September 16 with opening set for October 5. The limited engagement, directed by Will Frears, plays through November 1.
Lenox, Paulson and Chianese join previously announced cast members Halley Feiffer, Ian Kahn, Kelly McAndrew, Matthew Rauch and Frederick Weller in the story of photographer Carrie Ann, who inexplicably shuts down at the pinnacle of her career. Lost, and afraid to even pick up a camera, her sudden descent is interrupted by a whirlwind romance with Jeff, a trend analyst who becomes determined to help her move on, even while facing his own dark future.
Lenox’s Broadway credits include Ain’t Misbehavin,’Dreamgirls, The Buddy Holly Story, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Kiss Me Kate and Doubt, which earned her a Tony Award in 2005. Her numerous off-Broadway credits include The America Play, Merrily We Role Along, Venus, Miss Evers’ Boys, Caroline or Change, Doubt and Something You Did. Screen credits include Black Snake Moan, Where God Left His Shoes and TV’s Lipstick Jungle.
Paulson made her Broadway debut in 2005’s The Glass Menagerie. She has been seen off-Broadway in Talking Pictures, Killer Joe, Colder Than Here and Crimes of the Heart. Film and TV credits include American Gothic, The Other Sister, What Women Want, Jack & Jill, Bug, Down With Love, Deadwood, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Cupid.
Chianese’s long career on Broadway includes Oliver!, Scratch, The Water Engine/Mr. Happiness, King Richard III and The Rose Tattoo. Off-Broadway credits include Ballad for a Firing Squad, Frank Gagliano’s City Scene, The Water Engine, The Return, Much Ado About Nothing and A Second Hand Memory. Best known for his long run as Junior Soprano on TV’s The Sopranos, Chianese has been seen in films including The Godfather: Part II, Dog Day Afternoon, On the Yard, The Public Eye, The Contenders, Cradle Will Rock, Unfaithful, Adrift in Manhattan and The Last New Yorker.
